Administrators Instructions for The Homework Site Program

  1. Access your school's homework service via a link on your school's website or by typing in the full URL, such as, http://www.thehomeworksite.com/schools/state abbreviation (lower case)/your_school_name in the location/address field of your web browser.

  2. Click on "Administrators."

  3. Enter the Username and Password provided.

  4. At the Administrator Page, you will have several options, depending on which services you have subscribed to:

    When you click "Teachers" on the main navigation menu, you will see a submenu appear below it with the following links:

    4a) Manage Teachers: Click "Statistics" or "Password" on the top title bar to view the statistics or passwords, respectively, for all of your teachers. Subsequently, you can click "statistics" or "view password" to get the information for a specific teacher only. Click "modify" to change a particular teacher's records (e.g. last name or salutation.) Click "delete" to remove a teacher from the program (Caution: when deleting a teacher, you delete all assignments for that teacher.) To view a particular teacher's homework, assignments click "view homework". If your school subscribes to lesson plans, click "view lesson plans" to see the teacher's lesson plans.

    4b) Add Teacher: Update the fields with the appropriate information. Use the drop-down list to select a proper salutation. A first and last name must be entered for the teacher (Note: you can choose your own Username or have the program generate one for you, if that field is left blank.) Click "Add" to proceed. Click "Cancel" to exit without adding a teacher. If clicking "Add," the program will ask if you are sure you want to add this teacher. Click "Yes" to add the teacher or "No" if you changed your mind. After adding a teacher, you are given the option to click "Add Another Teacher" to bring additional teachers on board.

    When you click "Calendars" on the main navigation menu, you will see a submenu appear below it with the following links:

    4c) Activity Calendar: Click this button to see/input schoolwide activities. Select the "general" or "sports" calendar (whichever is applicable.) Note: some schools may put everything on one calendar. Then, click on the number corresponding to the date to get the details on a particular activity (sports event, faculty meeting, holiday, school play, club meeting, etc...) or click "add" to input an activity. Type in a title for the event and, then, the details you want the school community to know. Click "delete" on a particular day to erase the event scheduled. Use the arrows to go back and forth a month.

    Note: The activity, lunch, test, and personal calendars are all optional calendars to which a school can subscribe. The lesson plans feature is also an optional feature to which a school can subscribe.

    4d) Personal Calendar: Click here to schedule on-line your own personal activities and to-dos. Click the "remind" box to send to yourself an e-mail reminder of the activity or to-do. Use the arrows to go back or forth a month. Alternatively, use the drop-down lists to quickly select the desired month and year. Click "go" to jump to the particular month or year.

    4e) Test Calendar: Click here to view the tests your teachers have scheduled for this week. Use the back and forth arrows to go back and forward weeks, respectively.

    Note: The activity, lunch, test, and personal calendars are all optional calendars to which a school can subscribe. The lesson plans feature is also an optional feature to which a school can subscribe.

    When you click "Administrative" on the main navigation menu, you will see a submenu appear below it with the following links:

    4f) Change Administrator Password: Enter a Password of your choice in both the "New Password" and the "Retype Password" fields. The Password should be entered exactly the same way in both fields (Remember, Passwords are case-sensitive.) Click "Change" to activate your new Password or click "Cancel" to stick with your current one.

    4g) Edit School Profile: Update your school profile with all the necessary information. Click "Change" to activate the new information or "Cancel" if you change your mind.

    4h) Block Scheduling: From the Administrator menu, click "Block Days Editor." The current monthly calendar will pop up for editing. In the fields below the dates, enter the appropriate alphanumeric code (up to 5 characters) that designates your block schedule for that particular day. Then, click "Update Block Schedule." You can populate a week, a month, a whole semester, or a whole school year for that matter. Just use the back and forth arrows to navigate to the appropriate date(s). Your particular "block scheduling" code will appear on all weekly/monthly teacher and student/parent calendars in the upper right hand corner of the particular date.

    For those schools that do not use "block scheduling" to accomodate their class workload, simply ignore this feature.

    4i) School-Wide Bulletin Board: Click this link at the Administrator Main Menu to name or rename this Bulletin Board, which is viewable by all students, parents, and school staff. This is also where you will select or change the board editor, which must be one of the teacher accounts at the school. If you wish, you can always add an additional teacher account, which can be used strictly for maintaining this Bulletin Board. The teacher who is in charge of this Bulletin Board will post to it just as he or she would post to individual class Bulletin Boards. The only difference is that the entire school community will see the posting.

    The School-Wide Bulletin Board is a great place to make school-wide announcements, which users will be alerted to the very next time they log into the site. Please feel free to call us directly with further questions.

    When you click "Menu Editors" on the main navigation menu, you will see a submenu appear below it with the following links:

    4j) Lunch/Breakfast Menu: Click these to see what's for lunch or breakfast at the cafeteria. Use the calendar side arrows to go back and forth a month. Click "add" to denote meals and "delete" to erase meals previously scheduled.

  5. Administrator Instructions: Click here for administrator instructions if needed.

  6. Logout: Click "Logout" in the upper right hand corner of the site to exit the Administrator Page.

    For security reasons, please logout when you are finished using the program.
