Company Press Release
www.thehomeworksite.com Provides K-12 Schools A Unique Opportunity To
Provide Homework On-Line To Their Students And Parents
The Homework Site, located just outside of New Orleans, is proud to announce
its custom on-line homework program for school communities. Students, parents,
teachers, and administrators access the service via a link on the school's
existing website. The program incorporates the school's name and logo on all
pages, giving the look and feel of a service developed by the school for its
students and parents. Moreover, students and parents are not subjected to
advertising (common with other services) when viewing/printing out the homework
assignments.
In addition to the banner-free custom look, The Homework Site program also
differentiates itself from others through the existence of exclusive teacher
and student/parent profiles. One time at the beginning of the school year or
semester, the teacher informs the THS database of her classes. Then, because
the program has generated a custom form for the teacher based on the inputted
classes, the teacher is able to enter her daily assignments for all of her
classes on a one page, easy-to-use form, typically in less than 5 minutes.
The posting of assignments by the teacher, regardless of her Internet/computer
experience, can be accomplished in such a short time because of the many built-in
shortcuts incorporated into the design of the program. The shortcuts include but
are not limited to: the capability to quickly duplicate assignments for different
periods of the same class, the capability to edit assignments (i.e., change test
dates without retyping the assignment), the capability to check a class box to
signify "No homework," the capability to link educational websites to the
assignments without any HTML knowledge, and the capability to attach computer
files to the homework (i.e., class handouts.) In most cases, these shortcuts
are not found in anybody else's offering and certainly not as a total package.
One time at the beginning of school or semester, students create their own
profiles of all their teachers and corresponding classes. Upon entering their
username, they can then view their daily/weekly/monthly assignments for all of
their teachers and all of their classes with one mouse click. At a quick glance,
they'll be able to see any upcoming tests/school projects, which are highlighted
in yellow on the calendars. Parents, likewise, can set up their own accounts or
just use their child's account. Students and parents can also view bulletin boards
for pertinent school news/information.
